Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, representing Morocco, signed today, Thursday, January 22, 2026, a charter to establish the “Peace Council,” alongside many countries, with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The council is a new international body aimed at resolving international conflicts and rebuilding areas affected by wars, with an initial focus on the Gaza Strip.
King Mohammed VI had accepted an invitation from the U.S. President to join the council, before 8 Arab and Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and Turkey, announced their joining as well.
