The authorities of the Green Island Bay ports announced today, Wednesday, the suspension of maritime trips between the Spanish port of Tarifa (Cádiz) and the port of Tangier starting from ten o’clock in the morning, due to unfavorable weather conditions currently being experienced in the Strait of Gibraltar, characterized by heavy rain and strong winds.
The source indicated that all trips scheduled from this time have been canceled, noting that the only trip secured during the morning period is that scheduled for nine o’clock in the morning.
In total, nine trips that were to be operated by the companies “Balearia” and “AML” between ten o’clock in the morning and nine o’clock at night have been suspended, which rendered the maritime line Tarifa–Tangier out of service for the entire day.
On the other hand, maritime trips between the port of Algeciras and the port of Tangier Med remain operational, with a call for travelers to be cautious and follow the updates issued by the port authorities, in anticipation of any potential disruptions.
For its part, the Spanish Meteorological Agency maintained on Wednesday the yellow warning regarding rainfall in the area, where rain is expected to reach 15 liters per square meter within one hour, with a cumulative total that could reach 40 liters within 12 hours, and this warning will remain in effect from three o’clock in the afternoon until midnight.
