The national security stated that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a person from sub-Saharan countries who was found dead in the city of Salé, denying the registration of any murder case, and confirming that it is looking into whether this concerns an image and identity of a person circulating on Senegalese pages claiming he was killed after the Africa Cup final.
The national security authorities clarified regarding the body that was found that it pertains to an unidentified person from sub-Saharan countries, in the city of Salé, which emanates a smell of alcohol and does not bear any prominent signs of violence or resistance, except for slight marks of bites linked by the investigations carried out to the presence of some stray dogs at the location of the body’s discovery.
The relevant security services have initiated a judicial search into the incident under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, with the aim of identifying the deceased, as fingerprints were lifted that showed no match with any fingerprints in the identification databases at the national scientific and technical police laboratory, and coordination is currently underway with the International Criminal Police Organization Interpol and the Senegalese security authorities to conduct the necessary fingerprint matches to determine the identity of the deceased.
In deepening the investigation, the security services have begun inquiries into the identity of the person that appeared in the identification documents published by the Senegalese accounts, which presented him as the alleged victim of the supposed crime, where there are signs of resemblance between him and the discovered body, indicating it indeed concerns a Senegalese citizen who holds a residence card in Morocco, but field transfers showed that he does not reside at the specified address, which necessitated further field investigations supported by technical expertise to identify the individual in question.
While the national security agencies deny the registration of any intentional killing or aggravated assault leading to death, as suggested by the published posts and articles, they confirm that the only incident recorded consists of the discovery of a body emanating a smell of alcohol, lacking identity documents, and showing no signs of violence or stabbing, and that this incident currently constitutes the subject of judicial investigations to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances and causes of his death, with a confirmation that the discovered body has been placed under medical examination at the hospital to determine the actual cause of death.
