The Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal is preparing to join Le Havre until the end of the 2025-2026 season, coming from the Belgian club Saint-Gilloise, according to what the newspaper (L’Équipe) reported today, Tuesday.
The newspaper clarified that the attacking midfielder, who is 32 years old and currently not tied to any contract, will be an important offensive addition for the Normandy team, which is seeking reinforcements capable of energizing the attacking flanks and strengthening the forward line.
Le Havre is currently in thirteenth place in the French league standings, and aims to reshape its roster during the winter transfer window in order to ensure remaining within the first division clubs.
Boufal, who reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup with the Atlas Lions and has played 46 international matches, joined Saint-Gilloise in September 2024, after a professional career that led him to clubs like Lille in France, Southampton in England, Celta Vigo in Spain, and then Al-Rayan in Qatar.
During the 2024-2025 season, the Moroccan striker participated in 16 matches in the Belgian Professional League and contributed to Saint-Gilloise’s national title win in the spring of 2025.
Since the start of the current season, Boufal has played 15 matches in various competitions with the Belgian team, but his playing time has remained limited compared to his technical abilities.
