The African Football Confederation (CAF) announced the opening of an investigation regarding what it described as incidents that occurred during the match between Morocco and Cameroon.
CAF stated that it has “gathered reports from recent matches and video evidence indicating behavior that may be unacceptable from some players and officials, and has launched an investigation regarding the events that took place in the quarter-final matches of the Africa Cup of Nations, Total Energies, Morocco 2025, between the Cameroon national team and the Morocco national team, as well as between the Algeria national team and the Nigeria national team.”
CAF decided to refer these matters to the Disciplinary Committee for investigation and called for appropriate measures to be taken if it is proven that the individuals involved committed any violations.
CAF also reviewed video footage of an incident allegedly involving some representatives of the media behaving inappropriately within the mixed zone.
CAF strongly condemned any inappropriate behavior that occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing crew or match organizers. Actions will be pursued against anyone whose behavior does not align with the professional standards applicable in CAF events.
