In a fiery summit involving two historic West African teams, the Malian Elephants meet the Senegalese Lions of Teranga in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, at Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier, starting from five o’clock on Friday, January 9.
The Elephants reached the quarter-finals in a dramatic fashion, qualifying after a thrilling draw against Tunisia (1-1) in both regular and extra time, and then winning in penalties despite playing with ten players since the 26th minute!
Despite not achieving any wins in regular time during the tournament so far (5 draws + penalties), the fighting spirit, defensive solidity, and the brilliance of goalkeeper Gigi Diara have allowed them to continue their adventure.
Senegal appears to be the most complete and confident, aiming to reach the semi-finals and continue their journey to reclaim the title.
