Due to Arma Company’s Neglect, Trash and Waste Surround Residential Complexes in Tangier

Environmental damage continues in Tangier, with various areas suffering from widespread litter and waste, issues under the responsibility of the Arma waste management company.

Recently, garbage and solid waste, including plastic, have spread around the “Al-Baraka” residential complex in the “Mars” neighborhood, encroaching on the residences and causing significant harm such as air, water, and soil pollution, as well as the spread of diseases.

In a statement to “Tangier7,” some residents expressed that the litter tarnishes the aesthetic appearance of their neighborhood and harms both the soil and local living organisms. They confirmed the clear and established liability of Arma for this negligence.

This is not the first time residents of Tangier have complained about the company’s services. A few weeks ago, Arma converted a cemetery in the Korzyana area into a “dump” without regard for the sanctity of the site, which resulted in considerable outcry and condemnation.

Residents of the “Ikhlas” complex have previously reported that Arma left piles of garbage accumulating for several days in their community and criticized the lack of adequate waste bins proportional to the area’s population density.

In a blatant encroachment on green areas in Tangier, the company began construction on a landfill in a green space near residential areas in the Al-Nasr neighborhood, prompting protests from local residents.

Although the issues and violations of Arma have reached the parliamentary level, with MP Abdelkader Al-Taher requesting clarifications from the Ministry of Energy Transition and Environment regarding accusations of disposal of leachate in the Merqala Sea, this has not deterred the company or improved its operations.
