Young participants in Generation Z protests at the Sur al-Mikazeen area in Tangier expressed their anger over reports accusing a leftist association of exploiting the demonstrations.
These reports have led to a significant decline in the number of participants in this youth movement, which began on September 27, as it reached its tenth day.
As is customary, Generation Z called for a demonstration starting at 6 PM on Monday, October 6. However, attendees were surprised by the noticeable decrease in participant numbers; the youths who traditionally gathered in Sur al-Mikazeen and its surroundings were absent, and participation was limited to known activists and some older individuals.
Ibrahim Kashad, an activist who helped coordinate the protests in recent days, voiced his frustration over the rumors regarding the dominance of the “Attac” association over the movement. He stated that while association members participated in the protests, their involvement was individual and not representative of the organization.
Ibrahim emphasized that the spread of such news has harmed the protest movement, which originated from the tragedy of maternal deaths in Agadir. He asserted that no one can claim to be behind the movement or assert dominance over it.
The activist pointed out that the demands expressed by the youth focus on “combating corruption” and improving the health and education sectors, and that no party has imposed its views or agenda.
