In coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), police officers in the Tangier-Mediterranean Port Security area successfully thwarted an international drug trafficking operation on Saturday, October 4. They seized a shipment of raw cocaine contained within a container designated for international freight.
The security monitoring of the container, which originated from a South American port and was en route to a port in an Arab country, led to the recovery of plates tightly packed within the container’s cooling system. The total weight of the seized cocaine amounted to 33 kilograms.
The judicial police in Tangier have initiated an investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office to identify all local and international connections related to this cross-border criminal activity.
This operation is part of the intensified efforts by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance to combat international drug trafficking, particularly concerning hard drugs and psychoactive substances.
