On Saturday, October 4, 17 individuals were presented before the public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Kenitra. They included eight adults who were under police custody and nine minors who were held at the judicial police center in Kenitra.
The arrests occurred following security disturbances in the Sidi Taybi area of the Kenitra region last Wednesday night, which involved theft, violence, vandalism, and arson. These events were linked to the Generation Z protests that took place in Kenitra and several other cities.
The public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Kenitra stated that a request for an investigation was submitted against four of the adults among those arrested, suspected of committing criminal acts. Additionally, a request for an investigation was made concerning seven minors based on the alleged criminal activities attributed to them.
Six of the detainees were transferred to the public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Kenitra, which has jurisdiction over their cases, comprising four adults and two minors.
According to the prosecutor’s request, all suspects were ordered to be remanded in custody pending the completion of detailed investigations. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in these actions in Sidi Taybi and present them to justice.
