End the Massacres and Famine in Gaza Now!

Paris, London, and Berlin have called for an end to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza in a joint statement issued on Friday, July 25.

The statement urged the Israeli government to immediately lift restrictions on aid deliveries and allow the United Nations and non-governmental organizations to act urgently to combat starvation. It reminded Israel of its obligations under international humanitarian law.

Italy

In this context, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated in Rome on the same day that “we can no longer accept the massacres and starvation in the Gaza Strip.” However, he simultaneously rejected the recognition of the State of Palestine at this stage, unlike France. Tajani clarified that “the recognition of the State of Palestine should occur simultaneously with the recognition of the State of Israel,” a remark that drew criticism from the opposition.

Mexico

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also condemned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza on the same day due to the food shortages caused by the Israeli blockade. Sheinbaum stated at a press conference, “Of course, we condemn what is happening now. Mexico is working towards peace through words and actions.”

United Nations

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the lack of “humanity” and “empathy” for Palestinians in Gaza, who are facing not only a humanitarian crisis but also “a moral crisis that challenges global conscience.”

In remarks via video for Amnesty International, he expressed, “I cannot explain the indifference and inaction we see from many in the international community. There is a lack of empathy, truth, and humanity.”

On the same day, the World Food Programme announced that about one-third of the population in Gaza has not eaten for days, warning of a sharp increase in malnutrition. The program stated that “the food crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels of despair. Approximately one in three people has not eaten for days, and malnutrition is sharply increasing, with ninety thousand women and children urgently needing treatment.”
