Council of Advisors: New Benefits and Privileges for Judges in Morocco

On Tuesday, July 8, the House of Councillors unanimously approved the amended organic law No. 09.25, which modifies organic law No. 106.13 concerning the statutory framework for judges.

This legislation aims to enhance the social protection of judges by granting them access to social leave, including maternity, paternity, and adoption leave, as well as medium- and long-term sick leave. Judges will also retain their full salaries during these leave periods, aligning their benefits with those of state employees.

Key provisions of the new text include full maternity leave of 14 weeks for female judges who are granted custody of a child under 24 months and a 15-day paternity leave with full pay for judges. Additionally, female judges are entitled to one hour of daily breastfeeding leave until the child reaches two years of age.

The approved law is part of ongoing efforts to reform the justice system and achieve legislative consistency between the statutory framework for judges and the general civil service law, particularly following amendments made under laws No. 30.22 and 46.24.
