The regional directorates of national education, preschool education, and sports in the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region announced today, Sunday, the temporary suspension of classes during the upcoming week due to expected weather disturbances.
The regional directorate of national education, preschool education, and sports in the Tangier-Assilah area stated that in implementation of the provisions of ministerial memorandum No. 2663, and following the warning bulletin and the activation of the recommendations of the regional vigilance committee, and in coordination with local authorities, and ensuring the safety of students and educational and administrative staff, it was decided to “suspend classes exceptionally in all educational institutions, public and private in the Tangier-Assilah area on Monday, February 2, with updates to be made in accordance with the weather developments.”
As for the regional directorate of Tetouan, it indicated that following the warning bulletin which expects heavy rainfall, and the state of the rivers in the region and the type of its mountainous terrain, and in implementation of the recommendations of the regional vigilance cell, it was decided to suspend classes in educational and private institutions in the Tetouan area on Monday, February 2.
For its part, the regional directorate of Al Hoceima issued the same decision to temporarily suspend classes on Monday, February 2, as part of the precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and educational and administrative staff and all beneficiaries of educational institutions and boarding schools.
In the regional directorate of Larache, it was decided to suspend classes for the entire week from Monday, February 2, to Saturday, February 7, in all educational institutions, both public and private, located in the territory of the commune of Ksar el Kebir, with a plan to implement remote learning to compensate for the sessions affected by this decision.
The regional directorate of Chefchaouen also decided to suspend classes in all public and private institutions in the region on Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, to ensure the safety of students, educational staff, and beneficiaries, adding that the situation will be updated in accordance with weather developments.
As for the Wazan region, the regional directorate of national education stated that due to the weather disturbances that Morocco will experience, and following the rise in water levels of many rivers and water courses in the Wazan region, and in line with the recommendations of the regional vigilance cell, and in coordination with regional authorities, it was decided to suspend classes on Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, in all educational institutions in the rural areas of the region.
In the province of Mdiq-Fnideq, the regional directorate decided to temporarily suspend classes on Monday, February 2, in educational institutions located in the territories of the two communes of Aliyan and Blianch, and also exceptionally at Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq School and Al-Masira Al-Khadra High School in the Bouzgala neighborhood of the commune of Mdiq, and at Tariq Ibn Ziyad School in the commune of Fnideq, adding that it will closely monitor the developments of the weather situation in continuous coordination with vigilance committees to take all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and educational and administrative staff.
In the Al Hoceima-Anjara region, the regional directorate urged school directors to take all precautionary measures as mandated by local vigilance cells concerning the temporary suspension of classes or not on Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, in coordination with local authorities and parents’ associations and all partners.
