Slides May Put You at Risk: International Platform Reveals Negligence at Mnar Park, Tangier

An international platform specializing in amusement parks has published a negative report about the Mnar Park resort in Tangier, which negatively impacts the city’s tourism image and Morocco as a whole. The report described visiting this resort as one of the “worst entertainment experiences in Morocco, if not the worst overall.”

The following is an excerpt from the report published on June 16, written by journalist Jonathan Sansins during a tour of nine Moroccan amusement parks.

Water Park: Lack of Organization and Seriousness

Upon arriving at Mnar Park in the afternoon, we found that all the water slides were not operational and no water was flowing. We paid an entrance fee of 24 euros per person, which is significantly high compared to other prices in Morocco, where the cost for a roller coaster ride is typically around 2 euros.

We decided to explore and take photos of the slides, which looked appealing in terms of design and variety. There was a sufficient number of lifeguards present, yet they were engaged in conversations with no sign of any slides starting up. Even after waiting a quarter of an hour past the expected time for the slides to begin operating (3:00 PM), no action was taken.

After repeated requests, the staff finally agreed to operate the main slide. However, the catch was that three people were required in the raft, and there were only two of us.

Later, despite the management’s promises to open the rest of the slides, nothing happened. Interestingly, the signage in the park indicated that all slides should be open at that time. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the manager responded nonchalantly, “But one slide is working; what’s the issue?”

The problems did not end there. When using one of the covered racing slides, my colleague was shocked to find several “items” accumulated inside the dark tunnel, causing an injury to his face and a collision with a discarded plastic bottle. When we reported this to the lifeguards, their response was alarming: “This is likely leftover debris from last year,” indicating a blatant lack of inspection or maintenance.

Amusement Park: A Better Experience but…

The amusement section of the resort was relatively better. Although the opening of the rides was an hour behind schedule, this has become a common pattern in most Moroccan parks we visited.

The main roller coaster, “Montania Rossa,” designed by a little-known Spanish company called “Mundial Park,” provided an acceptable experience for just 2 euros. However, the front seats were significantly more comfortable than the back ones, highlighting a disparity in ride quality.

The park also featured several thrilling rides, a small car racing area, and a dedicated section for young children with appropriately designed games.

Conclusion: Great Potential Wasted by Mismanagement

Despite Mnar Park’s relatively decent infrastructure, our experience was exceedingly negative, especially in the water section. The high prices do not correlate with the subpar service, and the management lacks basic professionalism and safety standards. Therefore, we do not recommend visiting the water park and advise those visiting Tangier to consider other more visitor-friendly alternatives.
