Autopsy of a Member of the Shumaharous Group in Tangier Following Sudden Death in Prison

The body of a member of the Shmehroush cell was transferred to the university hospital in Tangier on Wednesday, July 2. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death following a sudden passing in prison.

The local prison administration in Larache reported that “Y.A.,” who was detained in connection with the Shmehroush cell, died on Tuesday evening in his solitary confinement room.

A statement from the prison indicated that the deceased inmate had a history of mental health issues and was under medical supervision, receiving appropriate medication. It was noted that he had been seen by the prison doctor hours before his death due to a cold.

The same source confirmed that the relevant public prosecutor had been notified as required by law. Royal Gendarmerie personnel were dispatched to examine the body in the presence of the prison doctor, and the inmate’s family was informed of his passing.
