The Medi1tv channel and the High Authority for Communication in the Republic of Mali have signed an agreement lasting ten years, renewable, that allows the channel to broadcast and distribute its programs across the entire Malian territory via digital terrestrial broadcasting, satellites, and digital platforms.
A statement from Medi1tv noted that this step represents “a significant turning point in the continental path for the channel, embodying the shared will of both institutions to support sovereign, balanced, and open African media that reflects the African reality.”
The same source added that this agreement is a natural extension of Medi1’s deep-rooted presence in West African capitals, where the Mediterranean International Radio has been broadcasting on FM waves in Bamako for years, establishing a strong connection with the Mali audience.
It emphasized that Medi1tv today is committed to continuing this legacy responsibly in the television sector, given the strong fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Mali.
The statement pointed out that Medi1tv, the African channel for decision-makers and African citizens, has built its identity on accurate coverage of African affairs, balanced treatment of its geopolitical and economic transformations, and clear highlighting of development initiatives and achievements of African nations, emphasizing that “its independent and pluralistic multilingual editorial line makes it a media reference for the African audience seeking sovereign and credible information.”
By joining the digital terrestrial broadcasting bouquet in Mali, the statement adds, Medi1tv enriches the Malian audiovisual landscape in a spirit of South-South integration and solidarity.
Medi1tv commits to carrying out its journalistic mission in full compliance with the Malian regulatory framework, and with the principles of balance, plurality, and editorial independence that form the cornerstone of its identity, as well as with the ethical commitments stipulated in the agreement.
The channel also intends to transform its presence in Mali into a genuine partnership with local media sector players through initiatives in vocational training, exchange of editorial expertise, and the digital transformation of the media landscape, aiming for sustainable cooperation.
According to the statement, this agreement goes beyond merely being a broadcasting authorization, as it establishes a real partnership between two institutions united by a shared vision of professional, responsible, and globally open media.
It is worth noting that Medi1tv was established in 2006 as a continuous bilingual news channel for the Maghreb region. Today, it is a multi-channel and multi-platform media bouquet with a regional and continental focus, covering African and international affairs through major satellite networks and digital platforms, providing reliable and pluralistic information in service of citizens and the development of the African continent.
