The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that the first day of the month of Sha’ban for the year 1447 AH is after tomorrow, Wednesday, January 21, 2026 CE.
The ministry stated in a communiqué that it observed the crescent moon of the month of Sha’ban for the year 1447 AH on the evening of today, Monday, 29 Rajab 1447 AH, corresponding to January 19, 2026 CE, and it confirmed that its sighting was not established.
Below is the text of the ministry’s communiqué:
“The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs informs the citizens that it observed the crescent moon of the month of Sha’ban for the year 1447 AH on the evening of Monday, 29 Rajab 1447 AH, corresponding to January 19, 2026 CE, and it contacted all representatives of Islamic affairs in the Kingdom, as well as units of the Royal Armed Forces involved in moon sighting, and they all confirmed to her that the sighting was not established.
Accordingly, the month of Rajab has completed thirty days, and the first day of the month of Sha’ban will be on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 CE.
May God bless this blessed month upon our Lord, the Commander of the Faithful, and the protector of the homeland and religion, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God support him with good, welfare, blessings, and prosperity, and upon his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Al-Hassan, and his happy brother, His Royal Highness Prince Al-Majid Moulay Rachid, and all members of the noble royal family with happiness and joy, and upon the Moroccan people and the entire Islamic nation with progress and prosperity.
