Morocco begins military cooperation with Ethiopia to obtain defense supplies and equipment.

Ethiopia and Morocco held their first joint defense committee meeting on Thursday, January 16, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in several military fields.

The Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) reported that the meeting was dedicated to discussing ways to develop military cooperation between the two sides, achieving mutual benefits for the defense institutions in both countries.

Discussions included areas such as military education and training, collaboration in defense industries, and technology transfer, along with other areas related to military cooperation.

Major General Tesfaye Tessema, the Director General of Foreign Relations and Military Cooperation in the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, stated that relations between Ethiopia and Morocco are continuously evolving across several sectors. He noted that the friendship between the two countries reflects African solidarity and collective efforts for mutual interests.

The Ethiopian official added that the meeting of the joint defense committee represents an important milestone in the course of bilateral relations, opening the door for the implementation of areas of cooperation agreed upon by both parties.

For his part, the Director of Supply at the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces described what was achieved during the meeting as significant progress in military relations between the two countries. He affirmed Morocco’s determination to continue strengthening defense cooperation with Ethiopia.

The Moroccan military official pointed out that the Kingdom has begun procedures to benefit from Ethiopian defense supplies. He added that the implementation of this step is expected to take place in the near future.
