The General Director of “Nestlé,” Philippe Navratil, today, Wednesday, apologized following the largest recall in the history of the global giant in the food industries, concerning batches of infant formula.
Navratil stated, in a video posted on the website of the multinational company headquartered in Vevey (Switzerland), that “the recall of food products for infants was due to a quality issue concerning a raw material provided by one of the suppliers, which was detected last December inside a factory in the Netherlands.”
The head of “Nestlé” expressed his “understanding,” as a “father,” for the anxiety that this situation has caused for parents.
The global giant in the food industry initiated, at the beginning of January, the process of recalling some batches of the infant formula brands “Beba” and “Alfamino.”
The list of affected countries has expanded over the days, now including nearly sixty countries today, raising concerns about the reputation of the company, which is a world leader in nutrition.
“Nestlé” published on the website for each affected country the details of the batch numbers and provided a phone number to answer consumer inquiries. These infant formula products are marketed under different brand names according to the regions.
The group mentioned on several occasions that “this recall is a precautionary measure due to the possible presence of Céréulide, which is released by the Bacillus cereus bacteria.”
Navratil reiterated that, up to now, no illness related to these products has been confirmed.
