What do we know about RISMA?

RISMA (or Risma SA, often written in Arabic as “ريسما”) is one of the leading companies operating in the tourism and hospitality sector in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The company was founded in 1993, headquartered in Casablanca, and is listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange under the symbol RIS (or RISMA in some contexts).

History of Foundation and Strategic Partnership

Since its establishment, RISMA has focused on supporting the national strategy for tourism development in Morocco. In 1998, the company entered into a long-term strategic partnership with the global hotel group Accor, which significantly contributed to its growth and expansion. Through this partnership, RISMA became the largest tourism operator in Morocco, managing and owning a vast network of hotels under prestigious global brand names.

Hotel Portfolio and Brands

RISMA currently owns and operates around 27 hotels (some sources indicate management of an additional 19 hotels within the O Capital Group) in 11 major Moroccan cities, covering various regions of the kingdom from north to south, the Atlantic coast, and inland cities.

The main brands under which the company operates include:

  • Sofitel (luxury hotels)
  • Pullman
  • MGallery (luxury boutique hotel group)
  • Mercure
  • Novotel
  • Ibis
  • Ibis Budget
  • And sometimes other brands like Fairmont in certain projects

The hotels vary between 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star classifications, making them capable of meeting the needs of different segments of tourists: business travelers, families, leisure tourists, and luxury tourism.

Role in the National Economy

RISMA plays a pivotal role in enhancing the Moroccan tourism sector, contributing to:

  • Creating direct and indirect job opportunities (over 1200 employees approximately according to the latest reports)
  • Attracting foreign investments in the hospitality sector
  • Supporting tourism development in major cities and key tourist destinations
  • Contributing to achieving the goals of Morocco’s “Vision 2030” for tourism and increasing the number of incoming tourists

Financial Situation and Stock Performance

RISMA is a publicly traded company, and its financial reports are published regularly. In January 2026, the share price traded around 400 dirhams (with some minor fluctuations). The company is considered relatively stable in the hospitality sector, despite the challenges faced by the sector during and after the Corona pandemic, as Moroccan tourism has strongly recovered in recent years.

Challenges and Future

RISMA faces, like other hotel companies, challenges such as increasing competition from digital platforms (Booking, Airbnb), fluctuations in energy prices, and the need for continuous investment in renovation and environmental sustainability. However, its strong position as an exclusive partner of Accor in Morocco, along with the significant tourism rebound occurring in Morocco (especially after the 2030 World Cup), makes its future promising.
