A Ryanair low-cost airline flight, traveling from Marrakech to Barcelona, was forced to make an emergency landing at Fès-Saïs Airport on Sunday, January 11, 2026, after a heavily intoxicated passenger caused significant disturbance on board the flight.
According to testimonies from passengers and videos widely circulated on social media, the woman – described as “completely drunk and out of control” – began shouting and verbally assaulting other passengers, attempting physical assault, and refusing to comply with the instructions of the flight crew from the first minutes of takeoff. The crew members were unable to manage her or calm the situation, prompting the captain to make the immediate decision to divert to the nearest safe airport, which was Fès.
After landing at approximately 14:10, Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie officers boarded the aircraft and arrested the passenger, removing her from the plane.
The flight subsequently resumed at around 15:29, arriving in Barcelona approximately two hours later than scheduled.
