In a strong and exciting match within the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, the Egyptian national team managed to defeat the defending champion Ivory Coast with a score of 3-2, in the match held at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, and advanced to the semi-finals.
The Pharaohs’ goals were scored by:
- Omar Marmoush (4th minute) with a wonderful goal at the beginning of the match after a complete breakaway.
- Ramzy Rabia (32nd minute) with an accurate header from a set piece.
- Mohamed Salah (52nd minute) to add the third goal and enhance the Egyptian team’s lead.
In contrast, Ivory Coast responded with two goals from:
- An own goal from Ahmed Fattouh (40th minute) after a defensive error.
- Gela Douy (73rd minute) to reduce the deficit and put pressure on the Egyptian defense in the final minutes.
The match witnessed clear Egyptian dominance in the first half (ended 2-1), followed by a strong comeback from the Elephants in the second half, but the Pharaohs’ defense held up against the late pressure, especially with crucial saves from Mohamed El Shenawy.
With this victory, the Egyptian team qualifies for the semi-finals where they will face Senegal on Wednesday, January 13, in an anticipated clash between the giants of the continent.
