The collective councilor Fatima Al-Zahra Boubecker stated that the company “Lamalif,” tasked with managing the public lighting sector, punished the residents of a neighborhood in Tangier for 3 days and refrained from sending its team to repair the lighting.
The councilor said that while the company was working on lighting the African Cup stadiums, it chose a strange method to respond to criticisms directed at it.
She notes that “this punishment” is due to criticisms she herself directed at the company during a previous period, and that she did not imagine that the management of a large company would resort to “punishing” her and refuse to send its team to one of the neighborhoods and punish the residents because of a word she expressed in her capacity as a councilor speaking on behalf of the residents and defending their interests.
The councilor accused the company of “overreach,” asserting that she now fears criticizing it so that the residents do not pay the price for her words.
