Emergency Field Interventions After Heavy Rains Caused Disruptions on Some Roads

Field operations aimed at draining rainwater continue in several regions of Morocco today, Tuesday, January 6, as part of a comprehensive mobilization of various stakeholders to address the weather disturbances witnessed in these areas, which have resulted in water accumulations on several roadways and critical points.

In the municipality of Mshar’ al-‘Ain in the Taroudant province, National Road No. 10 experienced a temporary closure due to the flow of Wadi al-Bayd and rising water levels. This necessitated urgent intervention by local authorities and relevant services to drain the water and reopen the road section while taking necessary preventive measures.

In this context, human and logistical resources were mobilized by the civil protection and the regional directorate of equipment and water, in coordination with local authorities and the royal gendarmerie. The interventions included pumping out accumulated water, placing temporary traffic signs, and securing the affected sections, awaiting a decline in water levels.

Technical and operational teams continue monitoring and field tracking to ensure the safety of road users and the continuity of essential services. Citizens are urged to take caution and heed safety instructions.

On Monday, December 5, intensive field interventions continued in the province of Chtouka Ait Baha to mitigate the effects of heavy rainfall. Traffic was secured on National Road No. 1 at the Mars area by removing water that had flooded the road section and reopening it to users. Traffic was organized to ensure smooth movement on this important route.

In the municipality of Ait Milk, local authorities, along with services from the Ministry of Equipment and Water, began field operations on Road 1016 connecting Ait Milk and Balfaa. These operations focused on addressing black spots and opening the road, alleviating isolation for nearby villages.

The provincial vigilance committee also mobilized various logistical means and human resources, along with local vigilance committees, to ensure rapid and effective intervention for the protection of lives and properties.
