The Gulf Council announces its position on Security Council Resolution 2797 regarding the Sahara.

At the conclusion of its 46th session held in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council reaffirmed on Wednesday, December 3, the stance on the Moroccan Sahara and support for the autonomy initiative to resolve the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

The Council welcomed in its final statement, the United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2797, issued on October 31, 2025, adopting this initiative as an important step toward reaching a realistic and applicable solution.

It also commended the decision of King Mohammed VI to submit this initiative to the Security Council and to designate October 31 of each year as a national holiday under the name “Unity Day.”

This position comes in harmony with the steadfast and solid support of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for the Kingdom of Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, and for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory.
