Morocco has been elected as a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the period 2025-2029, securing 146 votes and leading the Arab group.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Residents Abroad, Morocco was followed by Jordan with 131 votes and Egypt with 114 votes, while Algeria and Sudan were excluded from this ballot.
This election reflects the international community’s appreciation for the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which promotes pluralism, dialogue between civilizations, and sustainable human development.
The statement emphasized that this election bolsters Morocco’s active and constructive role within UNESCO and its ongoing commitment to advancing education, culture, science, and communication as essential pillars of peace and progress.
In this new role, Morocco will continue its efforts to enhance international cooperation and defend universal values of tolerance, mutual respect, and solidarity, which are the foundation of UNESCO’s mission.
