On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Tangier sentenced a 16-year-old minor (born in 2009) to 15 years in prison for luring a 6-year-old girl, sexually assaulting her, and subsequently murdering her.
The ruling provoked anger from the victim’s mother, who demanded the harshest penalties, including the death penalty or life imprisonment, which is difficult to achieve due to the perpetrator’s age.
The victim, Hidaya, was the daughter of the accused’s neighbors in the city of Ksar al-Kabir, south of Tangier. This crime shocked public opinion in Morocco due to its brutality.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in Ksar al-Kabir. The case began with a report about Hidaya’s disappearance, and her body was later found in an isolated area bearing signs of severe physical violence and sexual assault.
Judicial police conducted intensive investigations under the supervision of the public prosecutor, which included fingerprint collection and the use of surveillance cameras, leading to the suspect’s arrest on the same day for his alleged involvement. The suspect confessed to his crime during the initial investigations.
