Numerous Facebook pages and websites have circulated images of military vehicles amid claims of army intervention in the Sidi Youssef neighborhood of Marrakech. This area experienced violence on the evening of Thursday, October 3, following protests by Generation Z.
A tweet from Mohamed Ouamoussi dismisses these claims, stating, “The suspicious green site spreads lies as usual! It publishes an image of an armored vehicle from the time of COVID-19 and the lockdown in 2020, claiming that ‘the army is entering Marrakech neighborhoods to deal with Generation Z protests.’ Misleading with outdated images is their trade, and heating up the content for Algerian media is their preferred weapon to satisfy their funders.”
Local sources in Marrakech have refuted this news, indicating that the widely circulated video is indeed from the Sidi Youssef area but was filmed in 2020, showcasing armored vehicles in various Moroccan regions during the enforcement of “health lockdowns” amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
