Princess Lalla Maryam represented King Mohammed VI today, Friday, in Paris, at the funeral ceremony of Bernadette Chirac.
Upon her arrival at the Basilica of Saint-Clotilde, she was received by Claude Chirac, the daughter of the deceased, before joining Brigitte Macron and many prominent figures present at this funeral ceremony in the church.
This funeral was also attended by Morocco’s ambassador in Paris, Samira Sitail, former French presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande, as well as political figures, friends, and relatives of the Chirac family.
King Mohammed VI had sent a message of condolence and sympathy to Claude Chirac following the death of her mother, Bernadette Chirac.
The king’s message stated, “We received with great sadness the news of the passing of your mother, Mrs. Bernadette Chirac,” expressing, on this painful occasion, his sincere condolences and expressions of sympathy to Mrs. Claude Chirac, as well as to all her family members and relatives.
The king added that “the Kingdom of Morocco will retain the memory of a distinguished figure who embodied loyalty and a rich legacy of human, familial, and national values,” recalling the memory of a woman who was always beside President Jacques Chirac, a loyal friend of Morocco and its people, with steadfast appreciation for the kingdom.
