Media outlets and social media accounts are deliberately sharing a video from 2017, presenting it as a recent incident of violence linked to Generation Z protests in Morocco.
The video shows an injured woman, with claims added that a police officer struck her on the head while she was attempting to see her son inside a police station. This footage has been used by foreign accounts and incorrectly linked to protests in Morocco. Locally, some individuals seeking to profit have misleadingly reshared the video to gain views in light of recent protests.
The Truth About the Video
The video dates back to 2017 and is related to an incident involving the assault of an elderly woman in the Casablanca region of Tangier by a member of the auxiliary forces, who pushed her during her visit to the fifth urban district, causing her to fall and injure her head.
An investigation was launched at the time regarding the circumstances of the incident, although the results were not made public.
