Police Officer Arrested for Extortion and Bribery

On Monday, September 8, the judicial police in Meknes arrested a police officer caught in the act of extorting one of the parties involved in a summary case, following a prior complaint filed by the victim.

A judicial investigation has been initiated under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to determine the criminal acts attributed to the officer, who is suspected of involvement in extortion and soliciting a bribe.

Due to the ongoing judicial inquiry, the police officer has been placed under provisional detention, pending the investigation ordered by the public prosecutor to uncover the circumstances surrounding the case.

On the administrative side, the General Directorate of National Security issued a decision for the temporary suspension of the aforementioned police officer, pending the completion of the ongoing legal proceedings against him, in order to impose the administrative sanctions outlined in the regulations for national security personnel.
