The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announced that it has sufficient food supplies to meet the needs of all residents in the Gaza Strip for over three months. However, these supplies are currently held in storage facilities in El-Arish, Egypt, awaiting necessary permits for entry into the region.
In a statement released on Saturday, July 19, the agency confirmed that the supplies are ready for distribution, and all logistical systems are operational and efficient.
UNRWA reiterated its call for the opening of crossings and lifting of the blockade, emphasizing its full readiness to fulfill its humanitarian duty to deliver assistance to Gaza’s population, including approximately one million children.
Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry stated that a catastrophic famine threatens the lives of thousands in the enclave, compounded by violent incidents near American aid centers.
The ministry confirmed that the region is experiencing an actual famine, evidenced by a severe shortage of essential food items and a significant increase in acute malnutrition. Medical teams have reported a notable rise in mortality rates due to hunger and malnutrition.
The Health Ministry urged the international community, UN agencies, and human rights organizations to take urgent and effective action to halt these atrocities and to open humanitarian corridors for the safe and regular supply of food, medicine, and fuel.
