Traffic Accidents in Morocco Result in 21 Deaths

Traffic Accidents Report

During the week from June 30 to July 6, there were 2,141 traffic accidents in urban areas, resulting in 21 fatalities and 2,931 injuries. Among the injured, 116 sustained serious injuries.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, the primary causes of these accidents include driver inattention, failure to yield the right of way, excessive speed, insufficient safe distance, and pedestrian inattention. Other contributing factors were reckless driving maneuvers, disobeying stop signs, improper lane changes, driving against traffic, ignoring red lights, driving under the influence, and improper overtaking.

In terms of enforcement, law enforcement recorded 50,181 violations and filed 7,897 reports with the public prosecutor. A total of 42,284 fines were issued, amounting to 9,120,025 dirhams. Additionally, 5,588 vehicles were impounded, and 7,897 documents were confiscated, with 500 vehicles put out of service.
