Incident Report: Aircraft Wheel Detachment During Takeoff from Marrakech
On Sunday, a wheel detached from a Cessna private jet, registered as CN-SRA and operated by Sarah Airways, shortly after it took off from Marrakech Airport. The aircraft was en route to Mallorca, Spain, when the incident occurred, causing significant disruption and chaos in air traffic.
In response to the situation, the pilot immediately declared an emergency and circled for an extended period to burn off fuel, mitigating risks associated with landing under these circumstances. Moroccan aviation authorities coordinated with Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca to prepare for a safe landing.
The aircraft was subsequently directed to land at Mohammed V Airport, known for its advanced infrastructure and trained emergency response teams capable of handling such situations.
After several hours of anticipation and air traffic disruption, the aircraft landed safely.
