Meeting Held Between Moroccan Officials and Gaza Peace Council Representative
On Wednesday, September 15, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, along with Abdeltif Loudyi, the Delegate Minister responsible for National Defense Administration, welcomed Nickolay Mladenov, the High Representative for Gaza from the Peace Council.
Mladenov was received at the headquarters of the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie, representing a high-level delegation from an organization established by U.S. President Donald Trump, which included the Commander of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza.
This visit is part of Morocco’s commitment to its role as a founding member of the Peace Council, in accordance with the guidelines announced by King Mohammed VI during the inaugural meeting in Washington, presided over by Donald Trump. The visit included the signing of an agreement on Morocco’s participation in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza, as stated by the Moroccan National Defense Administration.
During the meeting, the Moroccan side emphasized that the Kingdom’s involvement in the ISF reflects a strong commitment to the values of peace, cooperation, and international solidarity. It is expected to contribute to achieving and establishing peace and security in the Middle East region.
Moreover, Morocco highlighted its experience in UN-led peacekeeping operations and its ongoing dedication to peace and stability at both regional and international levels. This includes various royal initiatives aimed at regional integration that impact security and social progress.
High-ranking officials from the Gaza Peace Council and the ISF Commander warmly welcomed Morocco’s participation in this peace initiative, which includes the deployment of high-ranking officers from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) to the ISF Joint Command, as well as the establishment of a military field hospital.
At the end of the meeting, both parties signed the Agreement on the Participation of the Kingdom of Morocco in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza. This legal framework covers the technical and operational aspects of Morocco’s involvement and reflects a shared commitment to contribute to building a climate of peace and security in the region through concrete humanitarian and security actions, as concluded in the statement from the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP).
