The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced the scheduling of a hearing following the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation regarding the final of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 (AFCON 2025).
The session will be held on October 8, 2026, at the court’s headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
According to the court, the appeal was registered with the Court of Arbitration for Sport on March 25, 2026, and the Senegalese Federation demands the annulment of the decision issued by CAF, which declared the Senegalese national team as losers in the AFCON 2025 final due to withdrawal, awarding victory to the Moroccan national team with a score of 3-0.
Furthermore, the appeal requests the court to declare the Senegalese Federation the winner of AFCON 2025.
The date of the session was determined after consultation with the parties, who did not request that the session be public, indicating that it will be held behind closed doors. After the session concludes, the arbitration panel will begin its deliberations.
The court clarified that it cannot now determine the date of the decision’s issuance, but it will not be announced on the same day that the session is held.
Additionally, the court indicated that it has reviewed misleading information circulating about these proceedings, later conveyed by some media outlets. The court confirms that only information released through its official channels is considered official, and any announcement related to this case will be published on its website.
