The Deputy Minister of Sports in South Africa stated that the country will host the Women’s Africa Cup scheduled for next March instead of Morocco. Before an official statement was issued by the ministry denying the initial news.
In a statement issued by the Deputy Minister of Sports in South Africa to a local channel, Deputy Minister Bess Mabi said that South Africa seized the opportunity strongly. Mabi added: “We have the necessary infrastructure; our stadiums are well maintained. We recently hosted a very successful G20 conference here in South Africa, so yes, we are ready.”
Hours later, a statement was issued by the Ministry of Sports in South Africa saying that the Football Association only expressed its readiness to support the African Confederation if there was any change in the organization of the championship scheduled in Morocco.
The ministry confirmed that, so far, no decision has been made to change the location of the tournament.
It is worth noting that the Royal Federation has maintained a strange silence since the last statement following the events of the Africa Cup final, as it has not issued any comment regarding the sanctions and has not publicly finalized the fate of coach Walid Regragui.
