Large crowds and a rush to take photos with the Senegalese players during Friday prayers in Tangier on January 16. At that time, the Senegalese federation was not disturbed and did not talk about any danger threatening the team; instead, they asked the imam for prayers for success.
Hours later, after leaking the timing of their arrival in the capital, Rabat, the Senegalese federation issued a statement complaining about large crowds at the Rabat station, claiming a lack of security and poor organization of the trip.
Although the crowds were similar and the players faced the same conditions, the federation considered the situation normal during Friday prayers; however, the reception from their Senegalese fans was deemed a “threat to them,” which raised suspicion and questions about the true intentions behind the midnight statement issued from Tangier.
Followers considered that the Senegalese team is trying to play the pressure card against Morocco, preparing for the final, and the evidence of this is the contradiction in the treatment of the prayer crowds and the reception in Rabat.
It seems that these complaints are a pre-emptive measure for what might happen on Sunday in case Morocco wins, as the justification is ready: difficult circumstances.
