Birth of ‘Morocco Discovery’ in the City of Tangier

On Monday, January 12, the founding general assembly of the association “MOROCCO DISCOVERY” was held at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tangier. This step aims to give a new boost to tourism promotion in Morocco, with a special focus on the Tangier region, particularly rural tourism.

The association aims to enhance the diverse tourism potentials present in Morocco’s territorial areas, including rural areas, mountains, two coastal fronts, and the desert. It seeks to highlight styles of accommodation and activities related to rural environments.

It also aims to diversify the national tourist offer and enhance the attractiveness of tourist destinations, contributing to reducing the seasonality of tourist stays and creating a sustainable dynamic in the sector.

“MOROCCO DISCOVERY” bases its vision on the experience of “ITALY DISCOVERY,” a leader in developing similar initiatives in Italy, intending to benefit from this international expertise and adapt innovative models to Moroccan tourism specifics.

The administration of the association will be managed by a board of directors comprising 13 members, chosen based on their professional competences and ability to coordinate with various institutional and economic stakeholders.

This general assembly witnessed the presence of several prominent figures in the institutional and professional sectors of tourism, led by Rokia Alaoui, President of the Regional Tourism Council for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, along with Roberto Berticon, President of “Italy Discovery,” and Lubna Bahara, Vice President. Representatives from regional and national tourism bodies, the hotel industry, and travel agencies also attended. The meeting was also graced by Dina Ravera, President of the “Destination Italia” group.

At the end of the general assembly proceedings, Lubna Bahara was appointed as the President of the “MOROCCO DISCOVERY” association, alongside the election of the managing office members, who are experts from various fields of tourism, with a view to implementing programs and projects aimed at establishing an innovative tourism model that enhances Morocco’s status as a diverse and sustainable destination.
