The latest analyses and weather data published by the Arab Center for Climate indicate the potential for a significantly cold polar air mass to deepen towards the Maghreb countries, primarily Morocco. This is expected to begin at the start of next week, which warns of notable weather fluctuations and a noticeable drop in temperatures.
According to the same source, Morocco is anticipated to be affected by the formation of a deep atmospheric depression accompanied by air instability, which may result in heavy to very heavy rainfall in several areas. This could sometimes be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. This may lead to the flow of rivers and a rise in water levels, especially in low-lying areas prone to flooding.
The Arab Center for Climate does not rule out the possibility of snowfall in high mountainous areas, especially as the cold intensifies in the following days, particularly in mountainous and inland regions. This may impact traffic and daily activities.
The Arab Center for Climate pointed out that this weather condition will not be limited to Morocco only, but will also include Mauritania, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. Meanwhile, regions in the Levant, Iraq, and parts of northern Egypt and northern Saudi Arabia are expected to experience a less intense atmospheric depression.
