The Ministry of Interior urged all citizens to exercise the utmost vigilance and caution, and to take all necessary preventive measures and precautions to avoid any potential risks that may result from weather fluctuations.
This urgent message came following warning bulletins issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology, which indicate that the Kingdom is expected to witness significant weather disturbances in the coming days, characterized by unstable conditions, strong to very strong rainfall, locally thunderous showers, as well as snowfall in elevated areas, and strong winds expected to affect several regions of the Kingdom.
The ministry, in a statement, called in this regard not to risk crossing road segments prone to flooding, or valleys and low areas that may experience sudden flash floods.
It also urged avoiding any reckless behavior that might endanger the physical safety of individuals or the safety of others and their properties, with the necessity of fully adhering to the instructions and guidelines of public authorities and specialized intervention teams. It recommended postponing unnecessary travel and movements, especially in areas affected by these weather disturbances.
In this context, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that local authorities, in close coordination with various concerned services and sectors, have taken a series of necessary proactive and preventive measures to address the potential effects of these weather conditions, particularly through conducting preventive field interventions that included cleaning and maintaining sewage networks and channels, purifying water courses and sensitive segments, and addressing black spots susceptible to water accumulation.
These measures also involved mobilizing human resources and utilizing the necessary logistical means, and making various available resources ready for immediate intervention and support whenever needed, ensuring the safety of citizens and their properties.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its call for all citizens to embody a spirit of responsibility and positive engagement, again stressing the importance of strictly adhering to the instructions and guidelines issued by the competent authorities, which contributes to reducing potential risks and ensuring everyone’s safety.
