The Ministry of Interior stated that it has activated the command and alert center to deal with the developments in the weather conditions across all regions, issuing urgent instructions to the governors and officials to enhance field monitoring and the evolution of climatic situations.
The Interior Ministry reported that in implementation of the directives of King Mohammed VI, the ministry worked in close coordination with various governmental sectors, services, and relevant institutions to increase the levels of preparedness to address the potential repercussions of the weather fluctuations expected during the current winter season 2025-2026.
In this context, the Interior Ministry announced that it directed the governors of the regions and the officials of the affected provinces and prefectures to enhance accurate field monitoring mechanisms for the evolution of climatic situations and ensure tight coordination among various stakeholders, while taking proactive and precautionary measures to protect the population and mitigate the severity of potential damages, in line with the royal directives.
In this regard, the statement added that a command and alert center has been activated at the Ministry of Interior, in addition to the establishment and activation of regional alert and monitoring committees, as part of the national plan to address the effects of cold waves for the current winter season 2025-2026. It highlighted that this plan is characterized by updating its field data, expanding its intervention scope, and diversifying its targeting capabilities to ensure more effective guidance of interventions and enhance their efficiency for the benefit of the affected regions.
It emphasized that this plan targets a wide range of the population residing in several small communities belonging to various local administrative divisions distributed across 28 provinces and prefectures, with the aim of standing by the affected individuals and providing all forms of support and assistance to alleviate their suffering in the difficult conditions that may arise from weather disturbances. This will be done through continuous field support, taking into account the peculiarities of each area and the nature of potential risks it may face during this period.
In the same vein of mobilization, the Ministry of Interior, through its central and local services, and with the participation of various concerned sectors, has worked to raise the level of preparedness for intervention, through continuous monitoring of the field situation, ensuring regular supply of essential materials and heating means to the affected areas, and mobilizing the necessary logistical mechanisms and pre-positioning them near the threatened roadways, in order to break isolation when necessary.
These measures also include, according to the statement, organizing distribution operations of food aid, blankets, and heating wood for the targeted groups, ensuring immediate intervention for people in critical or urgent situations, in addition to ensuring the continuity of road and telephone connectivity, and providing the necessary fodder to protect livestock in the affected areas.
The ministry renewed its commitment to the full mobilization of various public authorities and services, in implementation of the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, emphasizing the continuation of all necessary efforts to alleviate the suffering of the population, ensure the safety of citizens and their properties, and confront all challenges that may arise from climatic fluctuations during this winter season.
The ministry called upon all citizens, especially those residing in the affected areas, to raise the level of vigilance and exercise the utmost caution and care, while adhering to the safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities, and avoiding all forms of risk that may endanger lives and properties.
It also encourages caution while moving and avoiding crossing key routes and roads vulnerable to closure, in light of the severe weather fluctuations that may occur in the upcoming periods, which contributes to reducing potential risks and ensuring everyone’s safety.
