Royal Instructions: Organizing Meetings to Hear Citizens’ Needs

In a pioneering meeting held in Sale, a consultation took place regarding the development of an integrated urban development program for the city, under the theme “Let’s Build Together What Unites Us.” This initiative aims to gather citizens’ needs and is expected to encompass all Moroccan regions.

The meeting, chaired by Sale Governor Omar Tawimi, aligns with the directives of King Mohammed VI, as articulated in the Throne Speech delivered on July 29, and the royal address marking the opening of the first session of the fifth year of the eleventh legislative term.

Tawimi emphasized that the consultation seeks input from various stakeholders, elected officials, and residents of Sale to formulate an integrated urban development program in accordance with royal guidance. He highlighted the importance of the meeting in gathering opinions and forming a comprehensive view on priority issues for this program, which aims to create a precise territorial diagnosis of the population’s needs in Sale through a participatory and innovative approach.

Local community leaders affirmed the significance of this consultative initiative, which provides an opportunity to express views on the latest generation of development programs and to establish a comprehensive vision for the needs of each community and the projects that should be implemented. They called for harmony between local programs and the requirements of new development programs to achieve tangible outcomes, asserting that such synergy would aid in realizing comprehensive local development.

They also stressed the continuous effort to expedite the establishment of the integrated urban development program for Sale as soon as possible, while expanding local consultations to ensure the success of this initiative and the formulation of realistic projects that meet local challenges and the specificities of Sale on economic, social, and cultural levels, underpinned by good governance and well-regulated relationships among all administrations and stakeholders.

The meeting included presentations on various vital and strategic sectors and the major needs of Sale, showcasing territorial data regarding economic, social, and cultural infrastructure, along with the key landmarks unique to the province.

The event saw participation from various stakeholders in Sale’s development ecosystem, including elected officials, public institutions, external agencies, economic actors, youth, and civil society organizations. Participants discussed various developmental challenges faced by Sale and its affiliated communities across multiple sectors.

Interventions highlighted the need to prioritize education, health, roadway infrastructure, and inter-regional connectivity, as well as adopting forward-looking local policies, particularly addressing youth and urgent needs while enhancing the coastal area with projects that provide job opportunities and change the face of Sale.

This meeting represents the first stage in designing and preparing the aforementioned program, aiming to present an accurate territorial diagnosis that responds to Sale’s residents’ needs based on a participatory and innovative approach framed within consultation and listening efforts to develop projects that meet community expectations.

Participants engaged in thematic discussions covering “employment promotion,” “education,” “healthcare,” “development of emerging centers and coastal enhancement,” and “integrated spatial planning and ensuring access to potable water,” to provide proposals and determine priorities relevant to Sale province.
