Polisario Proposes Sharing the ‘Bill’ with Morocco!

The Polisario Front has proposed sharing what it describes as the “bill for peace” with Morocco in a proposal submitted to the United Nations Secretary-General. This proposal expresses the Front’s intention to find a mutually agreed-upon political solution regarding the Sahara issue.

The expanded proposal, which does not present any new elements and insists on independence from Morocco, is seen as a desperate attempt by the Front and its supporter, Algeria, to influence global trends led by the United States, which is expected to promote “autonomy” as the only solution to the matter. It states that negotiations between the parties will be based on “Moroccan sovereignty.”

In his letter, the President of the Polisario Front stated that his “proposal” aims to enable the “Saharan people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination through a referendum under the supervision of the United Nations and the African Union, and to express the willingness of the Sahrawi state to negotiate with the Kingdom of Morocco on establishing strategic and mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.”

He added that the “Sahrawi state is ready to share the ‘bill for peace’ with the other side, if there is a political will to do the same, aiming to reach a fair, peaceful, and lasting solution that guarantees the Sahrawi people their right to self-determination and restores regional peace and stability in accordance with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and the goals and principles of the African Union’s founding law.”
