The Competition Council has received complaints against Sonarges regarding suspected unfair practices in the ticketing services market for sports events at facilities managed by the National Company for the Implementation and Management of Sports Facilities.
These complaints raise concerns about the transparency and fairness of access to this market. According to the Competition Council, Sonarges has agreed to implement a series of commitments aimed at addressing these issues and ensuring a healthy competitive environment.
Background of the Complaints
The complaints submitted to the Competition Council focus on potential restrictions in accessing the ticketing services market, which may hinder service providers’ ability to compete fairly. There are worries that certain platforms or practices may favor some entities over others, particularly in managing tickets at major sports facilities operated by Sonargis. This situation has necessitated the Council’s intervention to investigate these practices and correct any potential imbalances.
Sonarges’s Response
Following extensive discussions and close collaboration with concerned parties, Sonargis announced a set of commitments aimed at resolving the complaints and ensuring transparent, fair, and non-discriminatory access to the ticketing market.
These measures included:
Establishment of a Neutral Registration System: Sonarges has created a unified registration system for ticket service providers, including its platform “Tazkarti.” This system complies with a set of specifications, including standards for access control, security, data confidentiality, and service quality.
Independent Evaluation: A third-party auditing firm will assess the candidate service providers to ensure transparency and prevent discrimination during the registration process.
Freedom of Choice for Organizers: Event organizers are granted the freedom to choose any registered service provider for each event, enhancing competition and preventing monopolies.
Clear Tri-Partite Agreements: Tri-partite agreements will be signed between Sonarges, the event organizer, and the service provider to precisely outline responsibilities and technical and financial aspects.
