Prison Announces the Punishment of Mohamed Zian for 30 Days

The management of the local prison “Al-Arjat 1” clarified the truth regarding the receipt of the amount allocated for prisoner Mohammad Zeyan to purchase food items and the reduction of the duration of his allotted break, affirming that he is punished for 30 days due to a violation.

Mohammad Zeyan’s family had issued a statement indicating that the administration refused to accept the amount allocated for the mentioned prisoner to purchase food items from the institution’s shop, stating that this affects his health condition.

According to the prison, Mohammad Zeyan committed a violation on June 11, 2026, consisting of exploiting the institution’s landline “for purposes other than those intended,” and he was presented to the disciplinary committee, which decided to impose a ban on purchasing from the institution’s shop for thirty days, with the exception of hygiene items.

According to the administration, the inmate in question refused to sign the decision, expressing his desire to contest it, and “this has been responded to as the dispute will be considered within the legal deadlines.”

The same source continued that the claim of the institution’s administration refusing to accept a financial amount from his family members is “a false claim,” highlighting that “after informing his son of the disciplinary committee’s decision, he refused to deposit any financial amount into his father’s account, knowing that the latter still has a purchasing receipt worth 300 dirhams that he had received from his son on June 8, 2026, and that his personal account with the accountant contains an amount of 340 dirhams.”

The statement emphasized that the aforementioned prisoner receives all meals provided to him daily by the institution’s administration accompanied by seasonal fruits, in line with the medical diet prescribed to him by the institution’s doctor, and “he has never filed any complaint regarding the quantity or quality of those meals.”

The prison administration also considered that the claim of reducing the duration of the break allocated to the inmate “has no basis in truth, as the person in question enjoys a sufficient break period, even requesting at times to end the break before its scheduled time.”

Statement from Zeyan’s Family

The family stated that they were surprised during the regular visit on Monday, June 15, 2026, by the administration’s refusal to accept the weekly financial amount allocated for him to purchase the food items he needs.

They stated that the former Minister of Human Rights, Captain Mohammad Zeyan, had previously stated that he finds it extremely difficult to consume the meals provided by the prison institution, as he primarily feeds on what he buys from the prison shop, which could negatively impact his nutrition and, consequently, his health condition, especially since he is an 84-year-old man.
