🔥Sofyan Amrabat undergoes surgery

The Moroccan international, Sofiane Amrabat, underwent surgery on his right ankle today, Tuesday, in Amsterdam, following the injury he sustained on November 27, according to his club, Real Betis.

The Andalusian club clarified in a statement that the 29-year-old midfielder underwent surgery performed by Dr. Gino Kerkhoffs, with members of the Betis medical staff present, noting that the procedure consisted of “cleaning the right ankle joint.”

The source added that Amrabat will undergo an initial recovery phase after the surgery in Amsterdam, before joining Sevilla to continue his rehabilitation program.

According to Spanish media, the nature of the surgical intervention suggests that the player will be sidelined for approximately one month.

The defensive midfielder, runner-up in Africa with the Atlas Lions, has been suffering from this injury since a collision with his teammate Isco Alarcon during a European League match against Utrecht, which also caused Isco to miss competitions.

After undergoing conservative treatment either with his club or the national team, the persistence of ankle pain led to a preference for resorting to arthroscopic surgery.

Despite attempting to return to competition with Betis before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, Amrabat was unable to regain his fitness with his team, knowing that he participated in the early matches of the Moroccan national team during the continental tournament, without being able to play regularly due to ongoing pain.
