The Casablanca court issued a prison sentence on the evening of Tuesday, December 16, against Sakina Benjelloun and her ex-husband Mehdi Kabaj.
The court sentenced engineer Sakina Benjelloun to 3 months of effective imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 dirhams, while a ruling was issued to imprison her ex-husband, engineer Mehdi Kabaj, for one month suspended and a fine of 40,000 dirhams.
Benjelloun had taken her divorce case to social media, where she published details of their marriage, the problems of the divorce, and the court struggle, which led her husband to file defamation complaints, resulting in her arrest and imprisonment.
Benjelloun, in turn, accused her husband of abusing her and depriving her of her rights, which led to a ruling against him.
The husband had announced his “withdrawal” from pursuing charges against Benjelloun but conditioned it on her stopping her online attacks against him, which she refused.
