On Sunday, October 19, the General Directorate of National Security announced a new list of appointments for various positions within Morocco’s decentralized security services. The changes affect cities including Tetouan, Casablanca, Laayoune, Sidi Ifni, Youssoufia, Fez, Marrakech, Sefrou, Rabat, and Inzikan, as well as central offices within the directorate.
These new appointments, approved by the Director General of National Security, Abdelatif Hammouchi, include 17 new leadership positions in public security services. Notable appointments include a new head for the Tetouan security zone and the police commissioner for the maritime port in Sidi Ifni, alongside several police district heads in the following areas: Hay Hassani in Casablanca, Fez City, Tetouan, Youssoufia, and Sidi Ifni.
The updated list also encompasses new leadership positions for uniformed public security services, including the head of the command and coordination room at the Marrakech Security Prefecture, and heads of urban agencies in the Bensouda area of Fez, Ain Chock in Casablanca, and Sefrou. Additionally, a head for the traffic department in Sefrou has been appointed.
Further appointments placed other security officials in charge of additional decentralized services, such as a head for the tourism police in Rabat and heads for general intelligence units in the Inzikan area and Bndabab Ain Qadous in Fez, as well as a head for the anti-gang unit in Laayoune.
At the central level, a female security officer has been appointed to lead the information management division of the judicial police, known as “Research,” under the Directorate of Judicial Police.
According to an official statement, these new appointments are part of an ongoing dynamic aimed at enhancing the efficiency and productivity of police human resources across all Moroccan cities. This initiative facilitates the rotation of leadership roles and assigns field management of police facilities to well-trained and proficient security capabilities, which are necessary for implementing work plans designed to strengthen citizen security and safeguard property.
