Group Rejects Division Efforts Amid Withdrawal from Amazigh Movement
The group known as Generation Z has rejected what it described as attempts to sow division and ignite identity conflicts following reports of activists withdrawing from the Amazigh movement.
In a statement released on Friday, the movement expressed deep concern over recent suspicious efforts to promote discord among citizens of the same nation. It stated, “This desperate attempt to divide a people who have shared centuries of coexistence, collective struggle, and a common destiny is unacceptable.”
The movement reaffirmed its rejection of all destructive rhetoric aimed at undermining unity, urging collective action toward building a just, supportive, and diverse Morocco within the framework of unity. It emphasized that there is no room for hatred or division, but rather for diversity that enriches their shared identity, reiterating that Morocco welcomes everyone.
Statements by Al-Jamahi
Meanwhile, groups claiming to represent the Amazigh movement announced their withdrawal from “Generation Z” due to the stance of the “administrators” regarding Amazigh issues, as well as comments made by journalist Abderrahim Al-Jamahi on the matter.
Tension was evident in Al-Jamahi’s podcast, where the group’s officials canceled an Amazigh activity and prevented the continuation of a discussion regarding the Amazigh language. Additionally, Al-Jamahi exacerbated the situation by asserting that the achievements of the Amazigh movement to date have been granted by the “system.”
The journalist remarked that the system treats Amazigh and women’s issues in a similar manner, stating that the gains are “given” rather than earned through “struggle and free debate,” suggesting that the foundation of these issues may not be solid and raising concerns about imposing these matters on the public.
